Can I order a sample?

To request a sample, please send us an enquiry with the product code or name you're interested in. We'll let you know if it's available and the cost.

How much do I need to order?

Depending on the size of your room and the specific wallpaper you've chosen, the quantity you require can vary.

What does pattern repeat mean?

- ‘Half Drop’ repeat is where every other horizontal repeat (from side to side) is dropped down one half of its length, i.e. the design repeats itself on the diagonal rather than the horizontal axis.
- ‘Straight Match’ is where the pattern repeats across the roll and is positioned at the same place at each selvedge.
- ‘Random Match’ or ‘Free match’ is where there are no pattern match points evident.
- 'Reverse Hang' alternate lengths, is where you hang every second (alternate) length upside down

What is pattern match?

A pattern repeat and pattern match can be very different from pattern match. The purpose of the Pattern Match is to identify where, in relation to the other side of the wallpaper (across the width), the matching part of the design is. To help with this you will find our wallpapers are trimmed through the design for ease of matching on hanging. If the matching half of the design falls on the same horizontal plane as the other side, then it is a straight match. If, on the other hand, the matching part of the design falls somewhere between two match points, in relation to the other side of the sheet, then it is a drop match. The other type or match is a random match or free match. This is one in which the pattern matches no matter how adjoining strips are positioned. Wallpapers with patterns that have a large pattern repeat or a drop match require additional wallpaper to account for wastage.

What’s a “butt join” or butted seam?

A seam in which the wallpaper strips meet exactly, edge to edge. The two edges of the wallpaper should be touching but not overlapping. All Milton & King wall coverings are finished as a butted join for easy installation. A seam roller is a tool that can be used to seal the wallpaper seams and help smooth any edges that have lifted. Do not roll the seams too aggressively or you will push out all the adhesive.

What does “paste-the-wall” mean?

When using Paste-the-Wall wallpaper, the paste is applied directly to the wall before hanging each strip. This wallpaper is made with a special backing that does not expand when wet; therefore, it does not need to soak as in other application methods. Using Paste-the-Wall wallpaper could cut your hanging time in half. Since the wallpaper does not need to soak prior to hanging, it can be hung more easily and quickly. Also, you won’t need to set up a pasting table which can also save you some of the mess and clean up.

Can I clean the wallpaper?

A symbol with One wavy line
means the wallpaper is spongeable. It's the lowest washability rating, which only allows for the use of a slightly damp sponge or cloth with no additional cleaning products or solutions.

A symbol with Two wavy lines means that the wallpaper is washable. A step above spongeable, products with this symbol are still fairly susceptible to water damage, but are more durable than products in the previous category. Owners can use a damp sponge or cloth to remove minor stains from the wallpaper surface.

A symbol with three wavy lines means it is super or extra washable. Wallpaper products with this symbol are much more resilient to water and can be placed in rooms where minor water splashes may occur. Most stains and surface debris can be removed with a sponge or cloth using water and mild soap.

How can I protect my wallpaper from damage?

To ensure your wallpaper remains in pristine condition, it's essential to begin with a clean and smooth wall surface during installation.

Once your wallpaper has been installed, make sure you delicately clean your wallpaper with a mild soap, shield it from direct sunlight, and promptly attend to any damage. Be attentive to how you arrange your furniture.

Can I install wallpaper in a bathroom/wet area?

Some wallpapers are heavier than others and will be more washable or scrubbable.

We advise installing wallpaper away from areas with high steam or splashbacks. Bathrooms are acceptable as long as they are well-ventilated and positioned away from direct water exposure, such as above the shower or behind the tap section of the basin. Please be aware that we do not provide warranty coverage for any wallpaper damage resulting from these situations.

If you're uncertain about which wallpaper is best for your project, feel free to consult with us for guidance.

Aftercare

How do I care for my wallpaper?

Some wallpapers are more durable than others. If you're looking for wallpaper for a high-traffic area, consider vinyl. Vinyl wallpapers are more resistant to wear and tear than non-woven or paper-faced wallpapers. To protect your wallpaper, keep furniture at a distance that prevents rubbing or scratching.

Some vinyl wallpapers have a coating that makes them washable and scrubbable, so you can easily clean up food splatters or insect marks. Non-woven or paper-faced wallpapers may have a spongeable or wipeable care label. You can safely clean these with a dry cloth or damp sponge. Dusting is also recommended, but avoid hard scrubbing.

Always check the care label for specific instructions and never use harsh chemicals or sprays on your wallpaper.
